Departmental Report


The Institute for Strong Families along with the Behavioral Sciences department presents the Healthy Families Conference every year. This year's theme is "Living Purposely in Culture". Different topics related to popular culture will be presented such as: media & technology's influence on marriage and family, extended adolescence, the impact of drugs on families (synthetic marijuana).

This year's conference will be October 30, 2014 on the LCU campus. It will begin at 11:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. A benefit dinner will be at 7:00 p.m. in the Baker Conference Center.

Keynote speaker with be Dr. Sylvia Hart Frejd, the co-author of The Digital Invasion.

The conference is free of charge to the public. Counseling and SWK CEUs are also offered free of charge. The benefit dinner will cost $30 per person or $50 for two people.

Registration for the conference is encouraged, but not required. Registration for the dinner is strongly encouraged, but tickets will be available at the door as well. There will be a link for registration on the LCU site closer to time.
