Classes may be winding down for the semester, but the Executive Offices are still in full swing!
President Perrin has enjoyed a full schedule this semester! Late in September, he was able to join several students, faculty, and staff in Washington, DC for the Washington Center Gala and an alumni reception honoring Marilyn McDermett (’59) and Lamar Reinsch, Jr. (’65). He also had the chance to travel to Kenya with Lucy, as well as trustee Terry Creech and his wife Cherie, and faculty member Dr. Daniel Hatch, as they look for ways for students to serve and to learn in Kenya. On campus, President Perrin has attended several special events, including a dinner honoring guest lecturer Dr. Weston Fields and the Dead Sea Scrolls exhibit; a reception and dinner honoring the newest Hall of Honor inductees; the conclusion of the Forever Blue tour with a special appearance by The Vocal Majority; and a lecture by Mark Lanier on his recently published book, Christianity on Trial. He has been active in the community, including serving on the Chamber of Commerce Board, and meeting with area ministers to encourage discussion about an area-wide church service. President Perrin has also helped lead the Engaging Our Future process, facilitating meetings of staff, faculty, and students.
Dr. Starr has also had a busy semester! He enjoyed teaching Microeconomics and actively met with current and prospective Business Administration students to encourage them in their studies. Dr. Starr is also involved in the Admissions field – in September he attended a Fort Worth Christian football game to cheer on the Mustangs and talk to high school students about the benefits of attending LCU. He also attended the Moser Ministry Conference, hosted by the LCU Bible Department, and has continued to keep a watchful eye on the construction of several projects happening on campus, including the new Nursing building and Starbucks location inside the library. Dr. Starr was able to travel to Pine Springs to attend the dedication of the John King Chapel and the Cardwell Activity Center that were built over the summer.
