Faculty and Staff News

This month we have ColorRunning, Blessing giving, a best selling author, very proud mamas and papas, and fun in the sun having coworkers! 

Some of the ladies from financial services participated in the ColorRun benefiting Lubbock Impact and the TTUHSC Free Clinic at Lubbock Impact. They were joined by Maureena Ruff's daughter, Shannon, and Kelly Simpson's sister, Casey Lohmeyer. Casey flew in from California to participate in the run!

Dr. Lynn Mason (Business Administration Dept.) has been a longtime volunteer for Greenlawn's Blessings Center, a benevolence ministry. Typical work hours are Tuesday and Thursday from 4-6 p.m. and Saturday times can be arranged. You can also help by donating items such as clothes, toys, furniture, and household items. For more information on how you can volunteer or donate items contact the Greenlawn Church of Christ Blessing Center representatives Smitty or Peggy Smith at mrveesix@sbcglobal.net or Dr. Mason at lynn.mason@lcu.edu.

Gary and April Stephenson's (Chaparral Golf Club and Business Office) daughter, Shaylin, helped pitch the Lubbock Christian High School Girl's Softball team to the state tournament! Other members of the team include Michaela Brown (Bob Brown - Facilities), Lindsay Brewer (Mondy Brewer - Leadership Program), and Jenny Rigney (signed with LCU to play next year).


The LCHS Lady Softball team WON the State tournament Saturday with a 10-0 victory over the defending state champions Bay Area Christian! Congratulations ladies!!! 


The LCHS baseball team also played in the state tournament. Steve Gomez's (Women's Basketball) son, Landon, is a member of that team. The LCHS Baseball team made it to the championship game before falling to Cypress Christian 1-3. Congratulations on a great season men!

The LCHS band won the State Title in March! Congratulations to all of the band members! The members with parents at LCU are Brennon Blackwood (Nathan Blackwood - Baseball), Michaela Brown (Bob Brown - Facilities), Tori and Tyler Brown, (Mike Brown - Business Office), Calley Crockett (Kathy Crockett - Leadership Program), Caleb Dansby (John Dansby - Women's Golf), Hayden and Landon Gomez, (Steve Gomez - Women's Basketball), Jake and Karley Hardin (Mike and Jennifer Hardin - Behavioral Sciences and Education), and Cameron Hughes (Shawn Hughes - Communications).

Jim and Lorna Smith (Technology Dept. and Business Office) took a cruise of the South Caribbean. They flew to San Juan, Puerto Rico and cruised to St. Thomas, Barbados, St. Lucia, St. Kitts, St. Maarten, and back for a day of sightseeing in Old San Juan before flying home. It was hot and humid, but so nice to see lots of water and green trees!
