Alumni Relations has had a full summer engaging with just over 700 LCU friends, alumni, former students and their family members. Round Rock, Sugar Land, Corpus Christi, San Antonio, Frisco, Midland, and Colorado Springs events were held at minor league baseball parks. LCU had a visible presence in Sugar Land when Al Roberts threw out the first pitch, in Frisco when Rob Evans (’66) threw out the first pitch, in Midland when Larry Hays (‘64) threw out the first pitch and Kelsey Peck (’12), Samantha Turley (’14) and Kensly Peck (’15) sang the National Anthem, and in Colorado Springs when Megan (Hurt ’15) Frank sang the National Anthem.
In Lubbock, a picnic on the mall was held on campus for local alumni and members of our LCU community. Samantha Turley (’14) hosted 30 alumni and friends of the university at a dinner in Raleigh, NC.
A reception was held at the Pepperdine Lectures in Malibu. Trey Dye (’16) and Abby Johnson (’16) spoke to the high school class at Red River Family Encampment and a luncheon gathering was held for all alumni and LCU friends in attendance at the encampment. LCU alumni relations sponsored two performances of Les Miserables in Roswell, NM featuring three members of our alumni community, Devon (Langford ‘13) Bullock, Kyle Bullock (’13), and Julie (Maupin ’06 – ’07) Washichek. Program sponsorship made it possible for LCU to be announced at both performances held on the Eastern New Mexico University campus, to have an insert in the program, and to be highlighted on all promotional materials posted on the theatre website and across the city of Roswell. In conjunction with discounted musical tickets, local alumni and friends of the university were treated to lunch prior to the matinee performance or dinner prior to the evening performance.
The Forever Blue Summer Tour will end on September 20 in Arlington, TX at a Rangers game. At 140 RSVPs as of August 18, the venue is already full capacity.
