Natural Sciences

Departmental News
Natural Sciences, Chemistry/Biochemistry, and Math/Pre-engineering hosted a Freshman Coke Float Meet and Greet event on August 25th. The event was held at the Chaparral Golf Course. About 75 students, including our Pre-Nursing students, faculty and staff attended. We enjoyed coke floats, fellowship, and hitting a few golf balls.

Dr. Laughlin, along with Dr. Blackwood, attended a Security Seminar on September 22nd hosted by Harding University. The seminar was on how to keep your students safe both domestically and while traveling abroad. Special Agent Tully, who is the lead security instructor for the U.S. Department of State in training diplomats and ambassadors, was the guest speaker.

Dr. Durham attended a Case Studies Conference hosted by the National Center for Case Study Teaching in Science on September 18th and 19th. It was held at the University of Buffalo in New York. The mission of the conference was to promote the development and dissemination of materials and practices for case teaching in the sciences. This will assist us in training those who are wanting to use this for undergraduate research. We look forward to Dr. Durham presenting this valuable information to our faculty.
