CHANCELLOR'S OFFICE:
This fall, Dr. Ken Jones is filling the pulpit for the Shallowater Church of Christ during their search for a minister.  Earlier this fall, he presented the sixth and final session of Breathe to the cohort in Midland.  Dr. Jones traveled to Granbury last weekend to conduct a retreat for the leadership team of the Fairmont Church of Christ in Midland.  He will lead the executive team from Betenbough Homes in a three-hour leadership seminar on October 22.

PRESIDENT'S OFFICE:
President Tim Perrin is "on the air" via ChapRadio.

President Perrin has launched into the Fall Semester, beginning with Go! Orientation, Staff and Faculty Conferences, the Transfer and Nontraditional Students’ Dinner, and the New Faculty Lunch.  He has had the pleasure of welcoming the C.H. Foundation and the Helen Jones Foundation for lunch and a tour of the new Art Facility; and he has had the privilege of broadcasting on the brand new Chap Radio Station. In addition, he attended a very successful Nursing Convocation and Pinning Ceremony and he and his family were able to attend part of the Choir and Band retreat. Of course, President Perrin has appreciated the opportunity to preach at Quaker Church of Christ.  He also recently was the keynote speaker for the 4th Annual High Plains Bible Teachers Workshop at Parkway Church of Christ.

A CLOSER LOOK - FLIGHT PLAN

Each month we'll take a "Closer Look" at the members of one of our many campus departments for news that you may not be aware of. Flight Plan has added two new interns that we want you to meet.

Marcia Crabtree
Josh and Kelly Baker
The Flight Plan office welcomes Marcia Crabtree and Joshua Baker, our two new counseling interns for the 2013-2014 academic year.

Marcia Crabtree grew up in Junction. She graduated from Texas Tech in 2006 with a double major in Psychology and English. From 2007 until 2013, she worked at Broadway Church of Christ college ministry Christ in Action as the Associate Campus Minister. Marcia is currently enrolled in the Masters of Counseling program at LCU.

Marcia’s mother is a retired school teacher and her father worked for the USDA. Her parents, older brother, sister-in-law, niece and nephew all live in her hometown of Junction. She is the proud aunt to Ashlyn Love, age 6, and Creed Michael, age 2. Marcia actively volunteers with Carpenter’s Church, The Human Rescue Coalition, and Broadway Church of Christ. She enjoys traveling; her favorite trip was to Liberia in the summer of 2011 where she and five others from Christ in Action worked with Christian Relief Fund and the Monrovia School for the Deaf, finding sponsorship for orphaned and abandoned children.
Joshua Baker graduated from the Youth and Family ministry department at Lubbock Christian University and he is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Counseling. He is married to Kelly Baker and they are expecting a baby girl this November. In addition to working with Flight Plan, he works as a Youth Minister at Buffalo Springs Community Church.

Josh and Marcia will serve as additional counselors for Flight Plan students this year. Their roles are key ones to our success, as they assume responsibility for weekly meetings with many of our students. Their counseling skills will help students learn to manage their time, establish better study skills, set goals for success, and discover ways to manage their interpersonal relationships, as well as develop spiritually. Josh and Marcia will coach and mentor our students as they navigate the pitfalls of campus life, and we are excited to have them on board.
