Friday, March 27, was the day chosen by the area TRiO programs to raise awareness of their work and celebrate their successes. LCU’s Flight Plan/TRiO program participated, marking the fifth year we have honored a Flight Plan student following their graduation and successful transition into the next phase of their career path.
This year’s LCU TRiO Achiever was Isaias (Izzy) Miranda, class of 2013, who is currently in Graduate school at LCU pursuing a Masters in Counseling degree. He also serves as a part-time intern in the Flight Plan office. Izzy received an award at TRiO Day and spoke to the crowd of community and area leaders at South Plains College, describing the unique challenges of first generation college students. He acknowledged the help he received from Flight Plan, attributing his successful college career in part to the guidance and encouragement from Flight Plan’s staff.

In addition to Flight Plan staff, guests attending the luncheon from our campus were Dr. Brian Starr, Dr. Toby Rogers, Dr. Julie Marshall, and Lucy Perrin.
