Michelle Kraft attended the National Art Education Association Conference in New Orleans, March 26-29, where she co-presented at three sessions:
· “Are You Sure You Belong Here?” with Alice Wexler (SUNY New Paltz) and Karen Keifer-Boyd (Penn State)
· “Students with Disabilities and the Core Arts Standards” with Sharon Malley (John F. Kennedy Center for Performing Arts) and Karen Keifer-Boyd
· NAEA Author Panel with Karen Keifer-Boyd
Michelle is grateful to the EquipLCU grant program for its funding to help with the cost of travel to the conference.
Michelle also attended a Letterpress Workshop at the Charles Adams Studio Project on April 4. She has published three articles for the Panhandle Art Review The Bowerbird this spring, including:
· “A Sort of Violence: Missing Persons and Conspicuous Consumption: An Interview with Hannah Dean”
· “Where the Art Is: An Interview with Ceramic Sculptor Miranda Howe”
· “Suis-je Charlie?”

Michelle Kraft and Sara White juried the first annual LCU Art Student Juried Exhibition and installed the show. LCU alumna and TTU MFA soon-to-be graduate Hannah Dean served as awards juror. Prizes went to Bethany Kunkel (1st place), Allie Stakely (2nd place), and K. D. Rapp (3rd place). Kunkel and Tama Havens also won Honorable Mention.
Two LCU art students, Leah Price and Bradley Cummins, represented LCU with their art at the National Conference for Undergraduate Research at Eastern Washington University. Several art students also volunteered and recruited for LCU Art at the Visual Arts Scholastic Event regional competition in February at Frenship High School.
