Homecoming Review

We all have our ideas of how homecoming weekend went based on our personal involvement and observations.  Data can be a powerful thing when collected, understood, tracked, and made actionable.  For this very reason, alumni participation was tracked through RSVPs, sign-in sheets, alumni update forms, Master Follies ticket purchases, and visual identification.

Did you know?

  • There were 65 scheduled activities between Thursday, Feb. 6 and Sunday, Feb. 9.
  • Alumni participation and involvement was tracked at each of the following events:
    • class/decade, club, and department reunions
    • receptions such as the 50’s/60’s dinner, alumni awards dinner, and alumni reception
    • basketball game drawing entries

  • Non-trackable events included activities like Alumni Chapel, Sunday devotional, softball games, family lunch, exhibitions, and Master Follies attendance if tickets were purchased by someone else.
  • More than 457 members of our alumni attendees were tracked, reflecting more than 810 touchpoints or encounters with fellow alums and members of the LCU community.
  • Non-alum, family and/or visitor attendance was not tracked and reported, but if each alum brought one guest it would have resulted in excess of 450 visitors on campus.
  • 91.96% of alumni participants were from Texas, with others representing states like California, Florida, Missouri, and Virginia.
  • 55% of all tracked attendees were from Lubbock and 13% of all tracked attendees live within 1-2 miles of campus.
  • 44% of attendees participated in 2-3 trackable events.

  • Combined brother/sister social club attendance at social club alumni breakfasts was as follows: CD/Koinonia - 41%; Kappa/Alpha Chi - 29%; Kyodia/LOA - 16%.
  • Alums from the 2000 decade (2000-2013) were the highest attendees at social club breakfasts and departmental reunions.

  • Natural Science/Aggies lunch attracted 47% of all those who attended departmental reunions.

  • 150 of the 742 patrons who purchased Master Follies tickets were members of our alumni community.

Actions Taken:
  • Some event photos have been posted to the Lubbock Christian University Alumni Facebook Page.  Others are being posted over time to keep Facebook visitors interested and engaged in the page.
  • All attending alumni members have received thank you emails from alumni relations on behalf of our LCU community.  50’s and 60’s decade attendees have received personalized cards.

Next steps:
  • Reports are being generated and distributed to departments and participating groups.
  • Each report will include department/group specific observations and recommendations as well as alumni update and demographic information collected during homecoming.
