Monica Barnard (General Counsel) gave birth to a healthy baby boy on March 28th at 12:48 pm!
Robert Ransom Arthur Barnard weighed in at
7 pounds 9 ounces and 21 inches long.
Kyle Bullock (Alumni Relations) is currently acting in “Gethsemane” at the Ragtown Gospel Theater. Kyle portrays the role of Jesus as He spends His final days with His apostles. “Gethsemane” runs through April 12th. For more information visit http://www.ragtown.com/about-this-production.php
Abraham Mata (Communications/Fine Arts) successfully defended
his dissertation and will graduate with his Ph.D. from Tech in May.
Shawn Hughes (Communications/Fine Arts) successfully completed
all the course work and exams for this Ph.D. and is hard at work on his
dissertation.
Dr. Gonzalo Ramirez (School of
Education) was invited to serve as a member of the board of directors for the
Lubbock Area United Way. He will serve a three-year term.
He was also invited to
serve as on the board of directors for Western Little League in Lubbock. Dr.
Ramirez serves as the player agent for the nine and ten year old division.
Shenai Alonge (Department
of Humanities) has been asked to write a book of practical advice for single
parents. The book is tentatively titled This Ain't No Day at the Spa:
Realistic Advice for Surviving and Thriving as a Single Parent and
is scheduled for publication by Jock and Lola Publishing in 2015.
Shenai also
read her creative work “Letting the Dead Bury the Dead” at the Conference of
College Teachers of English (CCTE/TCEA) in February.
Micah
Heatwole (Department
of Humanities) has been recently named
Associate Editor of the Iron Horse Literary Review.
Ronna Privett’s (Department of Humanities) paper “‘Let’s Go Girls!’: The Female Heroic Archetype and Hero’s Journey in Young Adult Literature” presented at the Conference of College Teachers of English, was awarded Honorable Mention and will be published in the 2014 CCTE Studies.
